Under federal law, the NYSDC is required to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer for individuals who contribute more than $200 in a calendar year. The NYSDC’s federal account may accept contributions subject to the prohibitions and limitations of federal law – up to $10,000 from individuals, partnerships, LLCs (if taxed as a partnership), and unincorporated sole proprietorships, as well as checks of up to $5000 from federally registered PACs.
The NYSDC’s non-federal account may accept up to $138,600 in annual contributions from individuals, partnership members, New York registered political action committees, and unincorporated unions or associations. Partnerships that contribute in excess of $2,500 will be required to specifically identify the partner(s) responsible for the contribution(s), and the attributed amount will be counted against each partner’s individual contribution limit. Total contributions from a corporation or LLC may not exceed $5,000 per calendar year in the aggregate to all New York state and local candidates and committees. Any LLC that contributes will be required to provide the New York State Democratic Committee with details regarding the LLC’s members and their ownership interests. It is strictly prohibited to reimburse another individual’s or entity’s contribution. All contributors must be either US citizens or permanent resident aliens (green card holders). We may also receive unlimited contributions to the NYSDC Housekeeping Account. For more information, please contact us at 212-725-8825.
Contributions are not tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.
