Recap from Day 1 of the 2014 New York State Democratic Convention

Today was a big day for Democrats and all New Yorkers, as we kicked off the 2014 New York State Democratic Convention. It’s clear that while we’ve gone through tough times, New York is on the move. We’re stronger today – and we’re not just building back, but building back better than ever. Democrats from across the state are showing what we can do when we work together to uphold our progressive values.

See what we’ve done and what’s at stake in this election:

We’re excited by the events from today and in case you missed them here is a quick run-down:

  • New York State Assemblyman Keith Wright stepped down as co-chair of the New York State Democratic Committee. We owe Keith our thanks for his service and for standing up for the progressive values of New Yorkers across the state.
  • Former Governor David Paterson stepped up to take the reigns as co-chair of the New York State Democratic Committee. We know he’ll do a great job and cannot wait to get started working together.
  • Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy officially decided not to seek re-election. His service and leadership have been invaluable to the economic progress of New York State these past 4 years.
  • Governor Andrew Cuomo made a historic announcement this afternoon by announcing former Congresswoman Kathy Hochul as his running mate and future Lieutenant Governor of New York. With our hard work, in November she will be the first female Democratic Lieutenant Governor in over 35 years. Watch Governor Cuomo introduce Kathy Hochul:

Tomorrow Governor Cuomo will address the convention and we’ll be sure to keep you informed throughout the day. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter and sign up to get involved:
