The New York State Democrats, with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and joined by special guest California Attorney General Kamala Harris, today laid out a positive vision for America and detailed how the strength of our nation depends on our ability to build bridges — not walls. The New York State Democrats are demonstrating how progressive values strengthen our economy and the fabric of our country.

New York State’s leadership on the most pressing issues over the last several years showcases the importance of investing in the education pipeline — giving working families and our youth the resources necessary to realize their full potential — while rebuilding infrastructure, fighting poverty and embracing our diversity.

The NYS DEMS re-enforced their pledge to help elect Hillary Clinton, the most qualified candidate of our generation who shares to the same commitment to building bridges to the future through unified and forward-looking progressive policies on the federal level.

Speakers at today’s delegation breakfast included U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, California Attorney General Kamala Harris, NYS DEMS Chairman and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick, and 32BJ President Hector Figueroa. In addition to addressing the delegation, Mayor Warren and Mayor Myrick today received “Bridge Builder Awards” in recognition of their commitment to progressive values.

The speakers contrasted Hillary Clinton’s record as a change-maker with Donald Trump’s empty promises, divisive rhetoric, and history of repeated business failures and bankruptcies. Donald Trump has made it clear his vision for America is one of exclusion, not inclusion, by proposing to ban Muslims from entering the country and promising to deport millions of Americans.

Senator Chuck Schumer said: “The future of our nation lies in our next generation, and it is incumbent upon us to ensure our children and families have access to all of the resources necessary to succeed. The Democratic Party believes that investing in our future is the key to a stronger tomorrow — which is why New York is already leading the way on college affordability, small business support and fighting for greater economic opportunity for middle-class families. Now, the Democratic Party stands strongly behind Hillary Clinton who will take the success and vision of New York across the country.”

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said: “Every American deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or their zip code. While Donald Trump was scamming our next generation of businesspeople and entrepreneurs, Hillary Clinton has put forth common sense policies that will help students afford a quality education and build a future for all of us. It is only possible to achieve real change for the next generation under Democratic leadership. With Hillary in the White House, she will help ensure a brighter future for all.”
